Our Hope for Hurting Parents Team

Welcome Val Bush to our Hope for Hurting Parents team.

“In the midst of challenges related to our own child’s addictions, my husband and I received tremendous encouragement and wisdom from Hope for Hurting Parents. This organization for parents reaches out to impart hope, perspective and support at a time when parents are especially open to and in need of compassion and wisdom from God’s Word.

I am excited to join Tom and Dena Yohe, founders of HHP, in this ministry to parents who need to know that they are not alone in the pain they experience from their children’s destructive choices.

As an associate with HHP, I lead support groups for parents and coach others who lead their own groups, contribute to the HHP blog, meet individually with parents either in person or virtually, and serve as a resource to churches. HHP facilitates a safe environment for parents to address the pain and isolation they experience. My goal is to encourage parents to draw strength and wisdom from God in their journey to personal peace and hope.”

Like Tom and Dena, Val raises her support to be on this team. If you would like to give a tax deductible gift to Val on a regular basis or make a one time donation click on the “Give” button below.

Welcome Beth Denhof to our Hope for Hurting Parents team.

During the early days of one of our children’s struggles with substance use, a time that was fraught with fear, worry, grief, shame, anger and every other emotion, I happened upon a random blog on Facebook that featured an article from Dena and the Hope for Hurting Parents Ministry. What a blessing it became to me, especially to find out that I was definitely not alone in this journey!!

As I learned to keep my eyes on God and trust His perfect plan and timing not only in my child’s life, but also my own, I found healing and strength and eventually brought a HHP small group to our community in Mankato, MN in August, 2017.

In this journey and with the support from HHP I have continually learned new things not only about parenting a child who struggles with substance use, but also skills to parent all of my children better, and, most importantly, that by keeping my eyes on God and not my circumstances, I can grow, change and even thrive. I am blessed to now join Dena and Tom Yohe, founders of HHP, to continue to help them further promote their ministry in order to help other hurting parents find purpose in their pain, joy beyond their fear, and hope for their futures.

As a Team Member with HHP:

  • I contribute posts along with Dena on the HHP Facebook page
  • I assist Val Bush with resourcing and helping current and new HHP Facilitators
  • I help with the promotion of HHP, a planned podcast and an online course to offer additional support to hurting parents who have no local group

While I never imagined that this walk would be part of God’s plan for my family, I can honestly say that with the encouragement and guidance from Hope for Hurting Parents, Paul’s words ring true…”Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:1-4 NIV)
