Suicide Survivor shares story, gives hope

This is the story of a suicide survivor. I watched it the other night and it was so moving. I just had to share it. It gave me a lot of hope.

It could be your son or daughter. An adolescent from a loving, involved family. Depression. Alcohol. Discouragement. Feelings of hopelessness.

His parents offered help. They took him to counseling. but he wouldn’t talk. Refused to open up. Thought it wouldn’t do any good. Sound familiar?

Then the unthinkable happened. Confronted with his alcohol use he attempted to end his life. What happened next is truly remarkable. A miracle.

If someone you care about is suffering from depression, has talked about suicide or you suspect it, you will definitely want to watch this. You will gain fresh insights into depression and become more empathetic toward those who suffer from it. I think you will also be very encouraged.  If you like it pass it on! It is also on The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s website.

I have taken Psalm 69: 16 – 17 and made it a prayer:

Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me.

Don’t play hide and seek with me!  I am distressed over my child. Please hurry up and answer my prayers!

Don’t let these flood waters sweep over me or the deep swallow me up!

Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your steadfast love, answer me!

Amen.
