Purpose and Work

Tom and Dena Yohe
Our purpose is "to encourage hurting parents in their journey from pain to peace."
The pain we refer to is the pain we feel when our teenage or adult children are making destructive choices in their lives. This could include addictions, self injury, mental illness, rape, imprisonment, eating disorders, sexual identity and many other issues.
Our work is to help start other support groups beyond our own. We think this kind of group needs to be in every city of our country and in other countries as well! Aware of the huge unmet need, it is our desire to speak to groups and churches to raise awareness, conduct seminars on being a friend to hurting parents and mentor facilitators to start groups of their own. Please use the "Contact Us" page to ask for more information or inquire about an available time for us to come share.
Blogs
There are limitations to what we can do physically, therefore, Dena and I have started blogging. This is your invitation to connect with us. Dena's blog is called Hope for Hurting Parents and Tom's is called Hope for Hurting Parents, A Father's View. You can also check out our Facebook Page
There are a lot of helpful things on Dena's blog site that she has worked hard to develop. Her blog page is what we will use to give basic information to others whose needs go far beyond what we could provide. Go to Dena's blog and select "Websites for Hurting Parents" or "Books" for additional information. We are also looking into other ways of expanding support groups including using the internet.
Thank you for visiting our website!
We are very glad you found us but so sorry you have need for our help. We are not counselors, experts or people who have it all together. We are only parents, like you, who have experienced pain and are still on the journey.
Please continue to check us out and send us a comment if you like from the "Contact Us" page.
